About Dubai South

Based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai South is a multi-phase development. The master-planned city was dubbed The Centre of Tomorrow and launched in 2006 as Dubai World Central (DWC), it was then renamed in 2015 as Dubai South. Along with a complete residential district and a wide range of amenities, Dubai South is home to the Expo City (at Expo 2020 site), Al Maktoum International Airport and a Business Park.

The eight different phases integrate residential, commercial, logistics, aviation, hospitality and leisure zones in one multi-faceted development under the flagship of the government. This free economic zone in Dubai sprawls over an area of 145 sq. km. with a 7 sq. km. aerospace hub and an 18 sq. km. logistics hub. With many phases currently under construction and many completed over the recent years, Dubai South is also offering freehold plots and off-plan investment opportunities with easy payment plans.

Dubai South, formerly known as Dubai World Central, is a visionary and rapidly developing district strategically located at the southern edge of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Attractions

Beaches

Jebel Ali Beach is one of the best public beaches in Dubai accessible at a drive of 23 minutes while JBR Beach is not more than half an hour away from the community.

The popular Banan Beach used to be a hot spot for picnics near Dubai South, it does charge an admission fee. While it has closed down in Dubai and moved to the emirate of RAK, you can still access it if you fancy a long drive for a weekend picnic. You can camp at Banan Beach or take it a step further and rent one of their chalets. Yoga, campfires, water sports and more can be experienced at Banan Beach. It is around 1.5 hours away.

Shopping Malls

The shopping needs of people living in this district will soon be fulfilled. There will be mega malls in Dubai South. As for now, Ibn Battuta Mall can be reached within 25 minutes and The Outlet Village by Meraas is 22 minutes away.

Other nearby malls include Dubai Marina Mall, Mall of the Emirates and the world-renowned Dubai Mall. These shopping destinations can be reached within a 40-minute drive.

Restaurants

There is a wide range of international food chains and restaurants in Dubai South that are already operational and are serving delicious food. Olives Restaurant which has many branches in Dubai is already serving in the premises of Dubai South while McDonald’s is the number one choice for fast-food lovers. Skini PaniniCoffee Pushin and Golos Italia Restaurant are located in the Logistics District of Dubai South. The nearest Asian restaurant is Sarhad Darbar in the neighbouring Dubai Investment Park.

Riverland Dubai which is part of Dubai Parks and Resorts has a wide range of restaurants which are 20 minutes away. Popular casual dining restaurants in Riverland Dubai include Super ChixOlive GardenTGI Fridays and The Coffee Club.

Fitness & Gym

There are spaces dedicated to green areas in every district. Many of the residential communities have planned large communal parks for their residents.

Mia Fitness Center is the only gym currently operating within the vicinity. Other gyms that are easily accessible are Hybrid Gym and Tawash Gym in Dubai Investments Park.

Schools and Universities

Right now there are a few schools near Dubai South in Dubai Investments Park. Dove Green Private School follows the British curriculum, Greenfield International School offers the American curriculum, Bright Riders School features the Indian curriculum and British Columbia Canadian School offers the Canadian curriculum. The number of schools and other educational centres will increase when the residential project is fully developed.

As the area is a proud core land for Al Maktoum International Airport, there is Emirates Aviation Services LLC close to the airport site that serves as a training and learning centre of civil aviation. University options can be found in the two educational hubs, Dubai International Academic City and Dubai Knowledge Park. Both these options are 30 minutes away from Dubai South.

Clinics and Hospitals

Keeping in mind that all the districts are functional right now, there are few clinics and hospitals in Dubai South and there will be many more soon.

There is Al Maktoum Airport Clinic near Al Maktoum International Airport that can be reached within minutes. Access Clinic Jafza is hardly 15 minutes away. NMC Royal Hospital is one of the top hospitals in Dubai located at a distance of 15 minutes in Dubai Investment Park.

The Residential District, commonly referred to as the Residential City in Dubai South has two main phases. The Staff Village will be a separate purpose-built community to boast villas and townhouses allotted to over 43,000 DWC blue-collar staff. More than 1,400 residential units have already been handed over at The Pulse, another popular area for renting properties in Dubai South.
